The National Conference (NC) Wednesday accused Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) of  playing petty politics with the sentiments of the family of Late Afzal Guru.

“By making public their letter, the PDP leadership have shown how petty their politics is,” Provincial President of NC, Nasir Aslam Wani said in a statement adding “Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah had sought the remains of the Maqbool Bhat and Afzal Guru on the 19th, When the PDP was trying to hide from commenting on this issue fearing a snub from their masters in BJP.”

“Omar Sahib made sure that the letter written to the Prime Minister on the 19th of February strongly pleading the handover of the remains of Afzal Guru is not made public so that such an issue is not politicized “said Nasir adding “ “The sentiments of the family had to be respected” he added.

“Not only seeking the remains of Afzal Guru, Omar Abdullah had also sought the remains of Maqbool Bhat which has been a very long pending demand of his family” he added.

“The PDP patron or its president in the past never spoke on any of the issues and have all along remained silent” said Nasir asking “Let them explain why they were silent when Afzal Guru was being charged and Mufti Muhammad Sayeed was the Chief Minister.”

“Today they claim to be the well wishers had they ever spoken in favour of Guru or his hanging in the past things would not have been the way they are now” he said.

“Omar Abdullah in his subsequent meeting with the leadership in Delhi made his concern obvious about the denial of a judicial review to the case of Afzal guru while as Virappan’s gang members were given a chance” he said.
