The encounter that started between the government forces and militants last night in Dooru area of south Kashmir’s Islamabad district has ended with the killing of two militants, police said today.

“The encounter is over and two militants were killed and arms & ammunition recovered,” said the police, in a tweet.

The police spokesman said that as a part of a joint operation, Islamabad police along with 19 RR and CRPF launched a search in Shishtargam area of P/S Dooru which resulted in an encounter with hiding militants.

In the ongoing encounter, 2 militants have been killed. The identity and affiliation of the killed militants are being ascertained.

In the process huge cache of incriminating material which includes AK 47 rifles, grenades etc were recovered from the encounter site.

In the said encounter no collateral damage has taken place and security forces are now sanitizing the area, a spokesman said.

In this connection, a case has been registered and the investigation has been taken up under the relevant provisions of the law by the Police.
