A complete shutdown was observed on the fourth consecutive day, today in Dooru town of south Kashmir’s Islamabad district against the killing of a civilian Sajad Ahmed Rather.

All the Shops, business establishments, government and private offices were closed and roads were deserted as public transport was off the roads.

Sajad was killed after forces opened fire into protesters in Shopian on May 6, resulting into the death of five civilians, who were demonstrating against the death of five militants, including to Hizb commander Saddam Padder, in Badigam village of the south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Local sources said that people of the Dooru and adjoining villages are visiting the slain Sajad ’s residence to offer ‘Fateha’ (prayers).

On May 6, 2018, thousands of people including men and women participated in Sajad’s funeral prayers. During the funeral procession, people raised massive pro-freedom and anti-governmental slogans and emotional scenes were witnessed before and after the funeral prayers.

Earlier, in the backdrop of the killings JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mohammad Yasin Malik, Mohammad Umar Farooq had called for two days and Kashmir observed a complete shutdown to mourn the deaths.
