At least two dozen students were injured in clashes between students and forces in Handwara district in northern part of Kashmir on Saturday. One student was reported to be critically injured and he was referred to Srinagar for advanced treatment.

Reports said that clashes erupted between the students of degree college Handwara and forces when the students tried to take out a protest march against the arrest of students in Pulwama and other places earlier last month.

Witnesses said that police resorted to massive shelling on the protesting students which included girl students as well.

A number of girl students have also sustained injuries in the clashes.
