Dozens injured as forces ‘barge’ into residential houses, beat inmates in Shopian village

Dozens of residents of Turkwangam village some 12 Kilometres from district headquarters Shopian were injured after forces, according to locals, barged into residential houses late last night and ruthlessly beat the inmates.

Reports reaching here said that earlier in the day a mild stone pelting incident had taken place in the village. ‘At around 11;30 pm a large contingent of army and SOG reached the village barged into residential houses and beat the inmates.

A local scribe told Kashmir Life that more than two dozen people have sustained injuries in force’s action. ‘A number of injured have been referred to Srinagar due to grievous injuries.’

SSP Shopian couldn’t be contacted for comments.
