SRINAGAR: Ghulam Nabi Azad, Chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), stated on Monday that DPAP is committed to addressing all concerns of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and stands as the sole party with a comprehensive development roadmap.

Azad addressed a substantial gathering in the Bulandpur area of Doda district, asserting that DPAP’s focus encompasses a range of issues, including smart meter implementation, ration availability, land eviction, electricity, and clean water provision.

Azad, recalling his tenure as chief minister lasting two and a half years, assured residents of the Chenab Valley that DPAP remains dedicated to advancing the well-being and progress of the public in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasised that DPAP’s distinctive attributes lie in its ideology and impartial development agenda that transcends religious and regional biases.

During the third day of his tour in the Chenab Valley, Azad underscored the importance of discipline and dedication among party members. He made it clear that those who thrive within DPAP are individuals who actively engage at the grassroots level, prioritising meaningful work over the pursuit of positions.

Azad affirmed that DPAP’s fundamental goal revolves around the welfare of people at the grassroots, underscoring accountability as a cornerstone of their political presence in J&K.

Addressing rights related to land, employment, and resources, the former chief minister stressed that if elected, DPAP would ensure the restoration of basic rights for the natives of Jammu and Kashmir. These essential rights, dear to the people, would be reinstated, and crucial decisions pertaining to these matters would be reevaluated.

Azad drew attention to the challenges faced by Jammu and Kashmir due to its landlocked nature and proximity to border areas. He highlighted the lack of employment opportunities for the youth and the adverse economic impact of the 33 years of terrorism. The region’s economy has suffered significantly, making livelihoods difficult to sustain.

The event also featured speeches from DPAP leadership, including G.M. Saroori, Vice Chairman; Ab Majeed Wani, General Secretary; P.R. Manhas, Zonal President; Asif Gattu, District President; and prominent DPAP leader Ramesh Parihar.
