SRINAGAR: Senior medicine consultant, Dr Ahmad Din Kanth passed away peacefully at his Nigheen residence, family sources said. He was around 80.

Dr Kanth was a known physician who mostly served South Kashmir. Post-retirement, he would be treating patients at his home and even visiting Anantnag, once a week.

For the last few months, Dr Kanth was not unwell as he was suffering from a terminal illness. He breathed his last at his Nigheen home with his family around.

The funeral prayers are being offered around Maghrib prayers. His congressional Fateh Khwani will be held on July 16, Friday at 2:30 pm at the family’s ancestral graveyard near Moulvi Maqbarah in Mal Khah. There will no congregational meeting at his home before or after the Fateh Khawani.

Dr Kanth is being survived by his son, Dr Aijaz A Kanth and his brother, G M Kanth, former Chief Engineer, PHE. All his daughters are settled.
