National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Working President Omar Abdullah have expressed serious concern at the situation in Samba where the Gujjar community has been targeted and harassed without any concrete steps being taken by the Administration to protect their lives and properties.

Condemning the persecution and harassment of the community in Samba, Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah have said such measures would discredit the inclusive nature and justness of our system and also pose a challenge to internal peace.

Condemning the assault, Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah have also expressed profound grief and sorrow over the loss of a young, innocent life in this incident and demanded a thorough, judicial probe to ascertain the facts. They prayed for peace to the departed soul and offered their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah have also sought an assurance from the Administration for the safety of civilians who have been targeted and said their ruthless dislocation and eviction seemed to be a politically patronized act.

The duo instructed senior party leaders to be in constant touch of the affected families and offer all possible support to them.
