SRINAGAR: National Conference President and Jammu and Kashmir ‘s five times Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday drove to Mufti’s Farview residence. He spent almost two hours at the residence of Muftis’, reports said.

Sources privy to the development said that it was a courtesy call. Dr Abdullah enquired about the family and the detained former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. Dr Abdullah is understood to have said that Kashmir is facing a common challenge.

Dr Abdullah reached the Fairview Guest House at around 4 pm. He had a chat with Mehbooba’s mother, Gulshan Ara, reports said.

Dr Farooq Abdullah’s detention under the Public Safety Act was revoked on Friday after seven and a half months. He has had a couple of meetings with his son, Omar Abdullah, who is detained under the Pubic Safety Act in the Hari Niwas Palace, just in the backyard of Fair View, the home to Muftis’. Dr Abdullah, The Hindu reported had a long meeting with Omar on Monday morning. Omar mother, Molly was also part of the meeting. “Party sources said the two leaders discussed the evolving politics in Kashmir and possible next moves by J&K’s oldest regional party, the National Conference,” the newspaper reported

Details were not known. Mehbooba’s mother is the only person who is in touch with Mehbooba for the last seven months.
