SRINAGAR: Senior gynecologist and former principal of Government Medical College Dr Girja Dhar passed away. She was unwell for a long time.
Wife of noted doctor, Dr Naseer Ahmad, she suffered a serious heart attack when Dr Naseer passed away on October 12, 2017. She was in the hospital for some time till she recovered. However, she was restricted to her Kral Sangri home since then.
Dr Naseer and Dr Girja Dhar are survived by a daughter who lives in the UK. Tina Anjila Shah is also a doctor.
Dr Dhar was a member of various important committees post-retirement. During her career, she was instrumental in creating a women exclusive hospital, now known as Lala Ded.
As per her close family members, the last rites of Dr Girja will be performed on Saturday at 2 pm.
