Reflecting on the series of observations made by Union Minister of State for the PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh on Thursday, MLA Langate Engineer Rashid has termed the same as “fascists tirades bereft of any vision and wisdom.”

“Dr Jitendra Singh by stating that AIIMS will be first set up in Jammu than any other part of the State and by adding that SKIMS is an AIMS type hospital has made a cruel joke on people of Kashmir as everyone is aware of the gross neglect of Kashmir in terms of resources allotted as Jammu has always got lions share and is evident from the ground realities with reference to overall developmental scene,” he said in a statement.

“Dr Jitendra should not forget that GoI has made announcement in the Parliament to establish AIIMS in Kashmir and IIT and IIM at Jammu. Kashmiris are neither communal nor biased but the series of broken promises by New Delhi is everyday adding to their alienation. Even if Dr Jitendra’s remarks that Kashmir has already got reputed institute in form of SKIMS are believed to be true but one needs to keep in mind that for Jammu people Chandigarh or Delhi is much more reachable as compared to Kashmiris who have been jailed in a lawless valley,” he added.

While remarking on the Dr Singh said that ‘maximum funds were released to Kashmir as major parts of Valley were affected by floods’, Rashid said, “The claim seems hallow as majority of flood affected families are yet to receive anything. By giving peanuts to flood affected families and ignoring many one wonders were these maximum funds are going. Who doesn’t know that so called national highway between Islamabad and Srinagar is in shambles.”

He expressed deep concern over Dr Jitendra remark that Amarnath Yatra can be held throughout the year.  “When other Yatras can be held for short period of time calling for holding Amarnath Yatra throughout the year is an onslaught against the environment and geology of Kashmir and is height of irrational approach. Let Singh not forget that it is not only the environmental concerns but other serious issues which compel Kashmiris to demand Yatra for the limited period. It has nothing to do with the religion. Not only the work in Civil Secretariat and other offices gets disturbed during Yatra but even Doctors and ambulances from remote areas like Langate, Karnah and Uri are deployed on so called Yatra duty, thus making whole Kashmir hostage to Yatra,” the MLA Langate claimed.

“Dr Jitendra’s claims that environmental experts don’t see any harm, if Yatra is carried out throughout the year is nothing than a Himalayan lie and deserves not even a reaction,” he added.

Rashid stated that time is ripe for PDP and Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to end “compulsive coalition” with BJP as the “fascism and communal policies of BJP threatens to hurt the overall situation of Kashmir.”

“Let Mufti break the alliance and dissolve the assembly so that fresh polls are conducted in the state,” Rashid added.
