SRINAGAR: Dr Karan Singh’s son Vikramaditya Singh has resigned from Congress.

“I hereby tender my resignation from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress (INC) with immediate effect. It is my belief that the INC is unable to realise and reflect the sentiments and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Singh is reported to have said in a brief letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi. “I hereby tender my resignation from the Indian National Congress.”

Singh had moved to Congress from PDP, where he was member of the erstwhile legislative council. He had unsuccessfully contested Lok Sabha polls from Udhampur constituency in 2019.

When reporters asked him if he was joining the Bharatiya Janata Party, Singh said that he will take some time and was weighing his options. Singh was the first Congressman to welcome the undoing of Article 370.
