SRINAGAR: Bakhshi Ghulam Mohammad’s nephew, Dr Nisar, who was living in London is no more. He was in his late seventies, family sources said.

Dr Nisar Ahmad Bakhshi was the son of Ghulam Hussain Bakhshi, bother of Kashmir’s last Priem Minister, Bakhshi Ghulam Mohammad.

“He died on November 24 morning,” Faiz Bakhshi, one of the close relatives said. “He was not well for the last three months because of some cardiac issues but he had nothing to do with Covid-19.”

Owing to the pandemic situation, the Bakhshi in Srinagar will not be holding any congregation. They have asked friends and relatives to pay for the departed soul at their own places. Dr Nisar is being laid to rest in London.

Faiz said Dr Nisar was a British citizen and was living there for more than 40 years. He is survived by his wife, a son – a dentist, and two daughters. All his children are settled, son and daughter in UK and another daughter in Saudi Arabia. The family was actually shuttling between Srinagar and London. In Srinagar, Dr Nisar has three brothers –Manzoor Ahmad, Dr Mushtaq Bakhshi and Bakhshi Altaf.
