Renowned academician Professor (Dr) Rafiq Mir passed away on Tuesday after a brief illness.
Dr Rafiq Mir was Head of the Community Medicine Department, SKIMS Medical College/Hospital Bemina, Srinagar.
Meanwhile, the administration, faculty, and students of SKIMS Medical College expressed grief and shock over the demise and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
“They remembered the deceased academician for his efficiency and dedication and termed him as one of the popular teachers amongst his students,” the statement said.
Dr Rafiq Mir’s services for the augmentation of facilities at the Medical College were also remembered.
Meanwhile, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) held a condolence meeting at Srinagar to mourn the sad and sudden demise of Dr Mohd Rafiq Mir.
In his condolence message President DAK, Dr Suhail Naik expressed heartfelt condolences with the bereaved family and said that Dr Mohd Rafiq’s academic acumen and in-depth knowledge of the subject was at par with international standards and his sudden demise is a big loss to the medical college and medical fraternity as a whole.
“Members of Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) paid rich tributes to the departed soul and expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family,” the statement said.
“Let the departed noble soul Rest in peace and, courage and strength to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss,” the statement added.
