Principal Secretary Animal, Sheep and Fisheries and Transport Department, Dr Asghar Hassan Samoon, today visited the proposed site of poultry estate at Bhagat Kanipora.
He was accompanied by Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Budgam, Joint Director Poultry, Tehsildar B K Pora and other senior officers of Revenue and Animal Husbandry department.
Dr Samoon asked the officers to complete all formalities at the earliest for setting up of the mega project.
After seeking information about the production of local poultry units from officers in the area, he stressed on the need to setup a mega one place estate for production of poultry products.
Later he also had a meeting with the locals of the area who appreciated departments imitative for conceptualizing the mega project with a huge potential of generating employment for local youth.
Highlighting the need of gearing up production of local poultry products, Dr Samoon said that Government is keen to facilitate the local entrepreneurs in setting up mega poultry units.
On the occasion, he also instructed the officers to encourage the local youth to invest in livestock sector which offers good returns.
He also said that Government has already identified 1100 Kanals of land to setup a poultry estate in Tral.
Dr Samoon also stressed on the need of creating infrastructure and technology intervention in livestock sector.
