SRINAGAR: After getting appointed as lecturer at the department of paediatrics, GMC Srinagar, senior paediatrician, Dr Suhail Naik Sunday resigned from the post of president Doctors Association Kashmir.

General Secretary DAK, Dr Owais H Dar said that Dr Naik is a multi-talented personality with tremendous capabilities. He said his resignation created a void in DAK office and “they will miss his wisdom and selfless services.”

“As laws framed for the constitution of DAK, faculty members of medical colleges can’t be an office bearer of DAK,” he said in a statement.

Following the move, the elected body of DAK unanimously selected Dr Mohammad Yusuf Tak as interim president of DAK, till next elections are held.

Dr Naik said it is not an easy job to represent the sacrosanct institution of doctors’ body but “representing doctors is one of graceful happening in my life.”

“I thank all doctors, paramedics who supported me in the interest of patient care and doctors’ welfare,” he said.

Naik was instrumental in the upgrade of healthcare policies at Kashmir’s lone children hospital, GB Pant, which was facing issue of rising infant mortality rate in 2009.

All the core members of DAK appreciated the resignation of Naik, who they said has worked hard in the last 3 years with honesty, dedication and without any prejudice or bias.

The doctor’s body requested Naik to be an advisor for DAK, till the next elections.

Pertinently, after a delay of seven years, the DAK elected its central executive body in 2017. Since then Naik was working as president of DAK.
