The Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, who is on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, witnessed a high drama when a sarpanch cutting short the Congress Vice President’s speech said that the Omar Abdullah-led state government is not of ‘much help’ to people.

The sarpanch hit out at the J&K state government stating that no powers had been given to the Panchayats. Reacting to the outburst Gandhi said, “I assure you that you will get your rights. Until it happens, I will keep coming to Jammu and keep fighting for your rights.”

Gandhi who is on his two days visit to the state was addressing a rally of Congress ‘sarpanchs’ at M A Stadium on Wednesday where he further said, “Had I not wanted to listen to you, I wouldn’t be here,” while replying to a person from the crowd who said that nobody listens to the Panchs.

Soon after his arrival in Jammu the Congress Vice President first visited the PCC office in Jammu and met elected members of local self government (Panchayati Raj) of Jammu and Kashmir. Later, he will meet members of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Jammu.
