Driver, conductor killed in road mishap in Banihal

Srinagar: A driver, conductor of truck, were killed in an accident near Sherbibi Banihal late last night, police said on Thursday.

During the intervening night of 1 and 2 March at about 11: 30 pm, a Truck bearing registration No JK 03G-8811 driven by Abdul Gani Dar son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar resident of Dooru Islamabad collided with a Trolley truck bearing registration No JK 02BH-2877 near Sherbibi Banihal.

In this accident, driver of the truck and his conductor Mudasir Ahmad Rather son of Farooq Ahmad Rather resident of Watihal Kurigam Qazigund died, police said.

Meanwhile, on Thursday morning the shopkeepers pulled down their shutters in Banihal town against the accident.

Banihal people observed shutdown against the accident and demanded stern action against the Troller driver bearing registration number JK02BH 2877 who according to them was responsible for the death of the duo.

Meanwhile, a case FIR number 24 has been registered in Police Station Banihal in this regard and efforts are on to arrest the accused driver, police said.
