SRINAGAR: A driver was driven dead to the city hospital when his damaged vehicle was found on a road divider near Tengpora bye-pass, police said.

“We found the vehicle with broken windscreen and we took him to the hospital for treatment where he was declared brought dead,” SHO Batamaloo Parvez Ahmad said.

A resident of Barthana Qamarwai, the deceased has been identified as Ai Mohammad Dugga. “There is no external injury as such, may be some internal injury is there but that will be found after post mortem,” Ahmad added.

The incident, according to police statement, took place at around 7:20 PM. Dugga in his Tata 407 (JK 01D- 5095) was moving from Bemina towards Hyderpora, Srinagar where some miscreants were pelting stones near a School. “These pelted stones hit the driver of bus who got injured and lost control of bus due to which bus collided with electric pole on divider of bypass road,” the police spokesman said.

Police has taken cognisance of this incident and have registered case FIR No. 45/2017 U/s 302 RPC at PS Batamaloo. Investigation is taken up. Police said his age is almost 50 plus.

Efforts to get independent version of the death failed because of strike. It was not immediately known if Dugga was driving in the vehicle alone.
