SRINAGAR: A speeding oil tanker has plunged into the Jhelum River at Wangipora in Sumbal, located in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Reports said that the incident occurred during the intervening night when an unidentified oil tanker, traveling from Srinagar towards Sumbal, veered off the road near Wangipora checkpost and fell into the Jhelum River along with the driver.
Rescue operations are currently underway by the SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) and local authorities to locate and retrieve the driver and the tanker.
