Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday said that it arrested a drug peddler in Sopore and seized contraband substance from his possession.
A police spokesman said, “Police party of Police post-Fruit Mandi led by Incharge Police Post arrested a drug peddler during Naka checking at Fruit Mandi Crossing and seized contraband substance from his possession.”
“One person identified as Tanveer Ahmad Dar Son of Ghulam Hassan Dar resident of Reban Sopore was arrested for the drug supply offences has been taken to Police Post Fruit Mandi where he remains in custody,” said the spokesman.
“Officer at the checkpoint have seized 115 grams of charas from his possession,” he said.
“Case FIR No 172/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Sopore and investigation has been taken up,” he added.
“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood,” said the spokesman.
