Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler from north Kashmir’s Sopore.

A spokesperson in a statement said: “Continuing its drive against drug menace, a special squad of Sopore Police comprising of SHO Police Station Dangiwacha and DO Police Post Watergam headed by DYSP Hqrs Rafiabad apprehended a drug peddler Firdous Ahmad Payer son of Ghulam Qadir Payer resident of Anwar Abad Salkoot Kupwara and recovered 10 bottles of Phosphate Hydrochloride Max Coff-T from his possession.”.

“In this regard, a case FIR No. 83/2018 under section 8/22 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Dangiwacha,” the spokesman said.

“It is pertinent to mention here that he is a chronic peddler and was selling the drugs to the youth of the area,” he said.

“SSP Sopore Javaid Iqbal JKPS has appealed general public to keep a strict vigil on the elements who are supplying these narcotic substances to the youth of Sopore,” said police spokesman in a statement.
