SRINAGAR: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Jammu and Kashmir police on Thursday said to have arrested a drug peddler in Sopore and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A police party of Police Post Fruit Mandi headed by Incharge Police Post Fruit under the supervision of SDPO Sopore, at a checkpoint established at Baghi Sundri crossing Nowpora, intercepted a suspicious person.
During search, 118 grams of contraband charas like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Showkat Ahmad Najar son of Ghulam Nabi Najar resident of Hib Dangerpora. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody, a police spokesman said in a statement.
Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 156/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore & further investigation has been initiated.
