SRINAGAR: Police in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday arrested a drug peddler and seized over 1.5 kilograms of contraband substance along with cash suspected to be proceeds from the sale of narcotics.
A police team from Police Station Qaimoh, during a checkpoint operation at Khudwani Bypass, intercepted a suspect identified as Akash Manzoor, son of Manzoor Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Guree, Bijbehara. A search of his belongings led to the recovery of 1.547 kilograms of Charas-like substance and Rs 2,000 in cash, believed to be earned through narcotic dealings.
Following the seizure, police registered a case under FIR No. 38/2025 and initiated an investigation under relevant sections of law.
Authorities have urged the general public to extend cooperation in their efforts to eradicate drug trafficking and abuse from society, reiterating their commitment to a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.
