SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that it booked a drug peddler under PIT NDPS Act after obtaining orders from the competent authority while two other were arrested.
A police spokesperson said that the drug Peddler namely Imran Ahmad Ganie son of Mohammad Ramzan Ganie resident of Nassu Badragund, Qazigund has been detained under PIT NDPS Act after obtaining the orders issued by the competent authority and has been lodged in District Jail Kot Balwal, Jammu.
“Consistent actions of police against the drug smugglers/peddlers should reassure the community members that police are making all efforts to keep our society free from drug abuse,” the police said.
“Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from their possession,” the police said, adding that a Police party of Police Station Baramulla headed by SHO Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Kralhar, intercepted two persons.
“During search, contraband substances including 30 grams brown sugar and 40 grams of Charas was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Mozim Manzoor Bhat son of Manzoor Ahmad resident of Khadniyar Baramulla & Shahrukh Shafi Mir son of Mohd Shafi resident of Bunhama Kupwara. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Baramulla where they remain in custody,” the police said.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Baramulla and investigation has been initiated.
