SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police has placed a Head Constable under suspension after he crashed his vehicle into a barrier at Sheeri checkpost while allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.
According to a statement, Head Constable Javid Ahmad (EXK-011664), presently posted in the Uri area, was driving an Alto car (JK12D-8187) on the night of March 13, 2026, when he lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the Sheeri Naka barrier.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
Taking serious note of the misconduct and violation of discipline, the police authorities placed the official under suspension with immediate effect.
Police said a departmental enquiry has also been ordered to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Baramulla Police reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline, accountability and the highest standards of professional conduct within the force.
