SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to experience mainly dry weather over the next five days, with isolated rainfall possible at some places on September 25 and 26, the Meteorological Centre Srinagar said on Sunday.
According to the latest forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department, weather is expected to remain dry across Kashmir and Jammu divisions from September 20 to 24, while isolated precipitation is likely on September 25 and 26.
No weather warning has been issued for either Kashmir or Jammu division during the next seven days.
The weather remained dry across Jammu and Kashmir during the past 24 hours, with no precipitation recorded, the bulletin said.
Day temperatures remained around normal at most places in Kashmir Division, with maximum temperatures staying 0-1°C around normal at many places. Similar conditions prevailed across many parts of Jammu Division.
Kupwara recorded the highest maximum temperature in Kashmir Division at 28.0°C, while Kathua recorded the highest maximum temperature in Jammu Division at 33.8°C.
Night temperatures, meanwhile, remained 1-2°C below normal at many places in Kashmir Division and 0-3°C below normal at many places in Jammu Division.
Pahalgam recorded the lowest minimum temperature in Kashmir Division at 6.8°C, while Bhaderwah recorded the lowest minimum temperature in Jammu Division at 9.1°C.
The MeT has forecast mainly dry weather over J&K during the next 24 hours, with the outlook for the subsequent two days also remaining mainly dry.
For September 21, Srinagar is expected to witness mainly clear to partly cloudy skies, with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to remain around 28°C and 13°C, respectively.
Jammu is likely to record a maximum temperature of 34°C and a minimum of 23°C, while Muzaffarabad may see temperatures around 33°C and 21°C.
In Mirpur, the maximum temperature is expected to remain around 34°C, while the minimum may settle at 24°C.
The bulletin said mainly clear to partly cloudy skies are expected over the forecast locations, with cloud cover ranging from 01-02 oktas for mainly clear skies to 03-04 oktas for partly cloudy conditions. Generally cloudy skies correspond to 05-07 oktas, while 08 oktas denotes overcast conditions.
The seven-day forecast, issued for the period from 8:30 am on September 20 to 8:30 am on September 27, indicates dry conditions across J&K for the first five days, followed by isolated precipitation on the sixth and seventh days.
