SRINAGAR: The School Education Department has instructed its employees to hoist the tricolor atop their houses while adhering to the flag code.

The Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) communicated, “All government officers and officials of the Education Department are encouraged to hoist the Tricolor above their residences while respecting the flag code.”

The communication also noted that no government employee within the education department shall be granted leave on Independence Day 2023, except in exceptional circumstances. “All employees are expected to actively participate in the Independence Day Celebrations.”

The directive emphasised, “All government buildings, offices, and schools should be adorned with lights and the National Flag should be hoisted while upholding the flag code. Videos of these displays should be shared with the respective Divisional Commissioner.”

The DSEJ further conveyed that all government officers and officials within the Education Department should utilize a selfie featuring the image of the Jhanda (flag), Mitti (earth), and Diya (earthen lamp) as their display picture on social media platforms.

The communication also tasked Chief Education Officers (CEOs) with ensuring maximum participation of students and teachers in the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” (My Land, My Country) campaign.

“A series of activities including special renditions of the National Anthem, essay writing, debates, Prabhat pheris (morning processions), and sports competitions shall be organized in all schools, with prizes being distributed among the winners,” stated the DSEJ.

The official directive highlighted that Independence Day speeches should encompass the government’s initiatives such as Digital J&K, Corruption-Free J&K, Swachhta (cleanliness), Nasha Mukt Bharat (addiction-free India), completed projects, Jan Bhagidari (public participation), Aap Ki Zameen Aap ki Nigrani (your land, your guardianship), among others. “Special cleanliness drives should be organised by all offices and schools.” (KNO)
