B S Dua, the controversially ‘famous’ officer who earlier held vital industrial departments has tendered his resignation as Managing Director of State’s fully owned Handloom Development Corporation. He was pitch-forked to this position after his retirement late last year.

Informed sources told Kashmir Life that the government has received his resignation but is “yet to be accepted.” One source privy of the happenings said the government had sought his resignation after his “style of functioning” became “a credibility issue.”

Sources said the officer who is politically connected had problems in managing the company that is on a fast revival path. Even a section of the employees were disappointed over the way and means he had adopted in his post-retirement posting.

Dua has remained in problem for some time earlier as well. A news report earlier suggested that he had appointed his nephew J S Dua and promoted him to the rank of senior General Manager when he headed SICOP. The aggrieved had gone to the Crime Branch against him besides petitioning the Chief Secretary.

It was on basis of this report coupled with the “contemporary happenings” that Dua was reportedly asked to put in his papers, which he did. The government is expected to take a call within a day or two.
