The convicted individuals, Mukhtar Ahmad Guroo and Nazir Ahmad Guroo, both sons of Gulla Mohammad Guroo and residents of Abi-Karpora, Nehru Park Dalgate, were found guilty under FIR No. 24/2008 registered at the Crime Branch Kashmir (now Economic Offences Wing). They were charged under Sections 420 and 109-B of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC).

The case involved the accused accepting money from the complainant for the purchase of residential immovable property while concealing the fact that the complainant, being a foreigner, was not legally eligible to acquire such property under Indian law.

Following a protracted legal battle spanning 12 years, the court sentenced both men to two years of simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 per offence.
