SRINAGAR: Dussehra was celebrated at Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar on Tuesday, with Kashmiri Pandits, Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs and people from different political and social backgrounds attending the event organised by the Kashmiri Pandit Sangharsh Samiti in association with the Punit Balan Group.
The celebration highlighted Kashmir’s traditions of communal harmony and peaceful coexistence, with participation cutting across religious and political affiliations.
The Samiti acknowledged the contribution of Puneet Balan, whose logistical support helped organise the event.
It also thanked the Srinagar district administration, Srinagar Police and other police personnel, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), which provided the venue and staff, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Traffic Police, Fire and Emergency Services and other government departments for their assistance.
The Samiti also expressed gratitude to volunteers, participants and others involved in organising the programme.
Dussehra marks the victory of good over evil. The Samiti said celebrations bringing together people from different communities were important for strengthening inter-community relations and preserving Kashmir’s diverse religious and cultural traditions.
