ECI Announces Poll Schedule for 4 States, 1 UT; Voting From April 9

   

SRINAGAR: The Election Commission of India on Sunday announced the schedule for Assembly elections in four states and one Union Territory, with polling set to begin on April 9 and the counting of votes scheduled for May 4.

According to the poll schedule released by the commission, elections will be held in Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala and the Union Territory of Puducherry.

Polling in Assam will take place on April 9, while Kerala and Puducherry will also go to the polls on the same day.

Elections in Tamil Nadu are scheduled for April 23.

Meanwhile, voting in West Bengal will be conducted in two phases — the first phase on April 23 and the second phase on April 29

The counting of votes for all five assemblies will take place on May 4,  the commission said.

The announcement sets the stage for electoral contests across the five regions, with political parties expected to intensify their campaigns in the coming weeks.
