The three ‘non-local’ militants who were killed in J&K EDI Pampore encounter were laid to rest in Sheeri area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

A top police official told CNS that the trio were laid to rest at Ganta Mohalla Colony near Sheeri police station after completing all religious formalities. “The trio had been shifted from Pampore to District Hospital Baramulla where post-mortem was conducted under the supervision of Dr Khurshid Ahmed.”

The police official said that local Mohalla Committee at Boniyar Uri didn’t allow police to bury these militants in their grave yard though according to the official they had dug out three graves there. “Locals didn’t want any unidentified body to be buried anymore there. We changed our plan and shifted these bodies to police station Sheeri where all the three slain militants were laid to rest during night hours near Ganta Mohalla Colony, a few meters away from police station Sheeri,” he said.

Meanwhile, the locals of Boniyar said that they will not allow any unidentified body to get buried in the local graveyard. “Hundreds of unidentified bodies have already been laid to rest in this grave yard in past. We have collectively decided not to allow police to bury any unidentified body here,” they said.
