Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar Monday ordered probe into the mysterious death of Javid Ahmad Khan, a Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) teacher who was a resident of Khan Mohalla Krusan in Lolab area of district Kupwara.

The body of 35-year Khan was recovered from Arampora area of Qamarwari in the outskirts of Srinagar last week.

The family members of Khan had alleged that he was tortured to death, triggering protests at his native place, an official statement said this evening.

Taking note of the family’s concerns, the Education Minister said that he has asked IGP Kashmir to carry out in depth investigation into the matter. “I have asked for a thorough probe into the incident so that the facts are brought to fore,” he said.

Akhtar expressed grief over the demise of Khan and conveyed solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
