Education Minister’s Cavalcade ‘Stoned’ At Hajin

The cavalcade of Education Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and National Conference leader on Saturday was stoned by youth in Hajin town of Bandipora district.

Eyewitnesses told GNS that at around 5:00 pm, youths pelted stones on Muhammad Akbar Lone’s cavalcade at Hajin Bridge after he was returning from Makadyari, where he met flood-hit people.

“The youths had information’s about Lone’s arrival from the village and once he reached Hajin Bridge, they resorted to heavy stone pelting,” an eyewitness told GNS, adding police chased away the stone-throwers.

“However, the youths also pelted stones on police ensuing brief clashes after which police fired several tear smoke shells,” he said.

The situation later returned to normal in the town, he said.
