SRINAGAR: The weather department here on Wednesday forecasted early morning and late evening showers on Eid-ul-Azha days in Jammu and Kashmir. The three-day festival of Eid is being celebrated in this part of the globe from Thursday.

For the next 24 hours, a meteorological department official here said that a brief spell of rain/thundershower was likely at scattered places in Jammu and Kashmir towards late afternoon and evening.

“From 29th to 30th June, partly cloudy weather is expected. Rain is likely in the early morning and evening,” he said, adding, “The same weather is expected from 1st to 5th July.”

Regarding the temperature, he said Srinagar recorded a low of 17.8°C compared to 19.4°C on the previous night.

Qazigund, he said, recorded a low of 17.0°C compared to 17.0°C on the previous night.

Pahalgam, he said, recorded a low of 12.4°C compared to 13.0°C on the previous night in the famous tourist resort in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

In Kupwara town, he said, the mercury settled at 17.2°C compared to 17.5°C on the previous night, and it was above normal by 2.1°C for the north Kashmir area.

Kokernag recorded a low of 15.8°C compared to 16.0°C on the previous night, and it was 0.7°C above normal for the place, the officials said.

Gulmarg recorded a low of 12.4°C compared to 11.5°C on the previous night in the world-famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, he said.

Jammu recorded a low of 26.6°C compared to 25.1°C on the previous night in J&K’s winter capital, he said. Banihal recorded a low of 19.9°C, Batote 18.5°C, Katra 23.6°C, and Bhaderwah 17.8°C. (GNS)
