SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Sunday issued the fresh classification of districts in view of the recent spike in the number of coronavirus cases.

In an order issued by State Executive Committee (SEC) headed by Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam, the government announced the classification of districts in Jammu & Kashmir as Red, Orange and Green.

The order was issued by Chief Secretary, who is also chairman of SEC and it stated that all the districts in Kashmir except Ganderbal and Bandipora are listed as Red zones, while as Ramban district of Jammu Province has been declared Red zone.

In Red Zone

Similarly, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Reasi, Kathua, Samba, Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur and Jammu districts have been classified under Orange category. Likewise, Doda, Kishtwar districts have been put in the Green category.

It said in Kathua district’s Lakhanpur, the gateway to Jammu and Kashmir along Jammu-Pathankot highway, would be a red zone with a 500-metre buffer.

Downgrading Red Zone

The order said the classification of the districts was done for implementing the lockdown relaxations from Monday after a detailed review of the current situation.
