Eight Injured In Srinagar-Jammu Highway Accident

SRINAGAR: At least eight persons were injured after a passenger vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident at Tanda near Akhnoor along Srinagar-Jammu highway in Jammu district on Monday evening.

Police officials told KNO that a passenger bus bearing registration number JK02BC-9855 was on way to Poonch from Jammu when the driver lost his control over the vehicle and hit a roadside house.

The structure as well as the vehicle got damaged in the incident, they said, adding that the passengers travelling in the bus also sustained injuries, who were shifted to the hospital for treatment.

Eight passengers received multiple injuries in the accident and are undergoing treatment at hospital while a few others were discharged after receiving first aid.

Police said to have taken up investigation and legal proceedings into the matter at Akhnoor Police Station.

The officials identified the injured as Liaquat Hussain son of Huassan Din resident of Mandi Poonch, Kabir Ahmed son of Abdul Rehaman resident of Sangala Poonch, Zabeer Ahmed son of Abdul Gani resident of Sangala Poonch, Talab Hussain son of Ilahai Baksh resident of Terrian Wali Surankot, Nazaqat Hussain son of Latief Hussain resident of Terrian Wali Surankote, Tasveer Begum wife of Zakir Hussain resident of Devikot Baiji Rajouri, Zakir Hussain son of Dil Mohd resident of Devikot Baiji Rajouri and Ghulam Ahmed son of Mohd Zulafkar resident of Mendhar.
