Casual employees from various government departments held a protest demonstration at press colony Thursday under the umbrella banner of J&K National Trade Union Front. The protesters demanded the regularization policy for the 62000 casual labourers of various departments engaged after 1994 as well as the release of their pending wages.

The protesters carried banners and shouted slogans against the present dispensation.

“The previous as well as present government has principally agreed to frame a regularization policy and promised to announce a higher power committee which will frame the policy but despite announcements, the government has miserably failed to fulfil this promise till date,” the statement read.

President J&K National Trade Union Front, Mohammad Gafoor Dar warned against “testing patience” of casual labours.

“The next programme will be held on 2nd September at all District Headquarters of valley and Jammu province if the demands are not settled by them,” he said.
