SRINAGAR: Within minutes after an encounter broke out somewhere in the Hazratbal area, one militant was reported killed.

Police broke the news of the encounter and the killing of the militant. Reporters on the spot said the shootout took place near the main Hazratbal locality and now the searches are on. IGP Kashmir, Vijay Kumar has identified the slain militant as Haider, TRF commander who is a foreigner.
“A police party was tracking him and his aim was to carry the attack on the police guard at the shrine and snatch his rifle,” Kumar told reporters at the scene. “Soon after seeing the police party he fired with a pistol and the fire was retaliated, leading to the killing of the militant.”
Kumar added: “He was a Pakistani and was active for last six months. His video had also gone viral recently.” He said his two accomplices are being tracked.
This is the second encounter of the day. Earlier in the morning, two militants were killed in the encounter between the police and the militants in Naina Batpora village of Pulwama. In the Srinagar encounter, police said they have killed one militant and the searches are going on for two more.
