Encounter started between forces and militants in Kandil village of Pulwama in southern part of Kashmir on Monday, police said.
An official said that a joint team of Army’s 44 RR, Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cordoned off the village after inputs about the presence of militants.
“As the forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire, triggering an encounter,” he said.
