SRINAGAR: A gun battle is reported to have started in Shopian.

Reports said the encounter broke out between militants and a joint posse of counter-insurgent forces in Amishipora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday. It started soon after the area was cordoned off, following the reports of insurgent presence.
It was after some suspects were detained and questioned that the firing started. Details are yet to emerge. Unconfirmed reports said three militants are possibly trapped.
