SRINAGAR: An encounter between security forces and militants erupted on Saturday in the Gambhir Muglan area of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir, following contact during a joint intelligence-based operation.

Officials said the operation was launched jointly by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF after specific inputs regarding the presence of militants in the area.
In a statement on X, the White Knight Corps said contact with the terrorists was established at around 11:30 am during the operation in Gambhir Muglan.
According to officials, troops responded promptly in a calibrated manner, leading to an exchange of fire with the hiding Militants.
Security forces have established a tight cordon in the area to prevent any escape routes, while the anti-terror operation remained underway at the time of the last reports.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or arrests, and the exact number of trapped militants had not been officially confirmed when reports last came in.
