SRINAGAR: An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in the Badimarg area of Yaripora in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday, officials reported.
An official said that a joint team of security forces launched a cordon and search operation based on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
He said that as security forces neared the suspected location, the hiding militants opened fire, which was met with retaliation, triggering the encounter.
