An encounter broke out between government forces and militants in Sadhu Ganga forest area of Kandi in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
An official said that a joint team of army and SOG launched a search operation in Sadhu Ganga forest area of Kandi on Wednesday afternoon.
As the joint team of forces intensified the searches, the militants hiding in the area opened fire triggering off an encounter, the official said.
He added that one army man belongs to 4 para regiment got injured in an exchange of fire.
When reports last came in, the intermittent exchange of fire was going on.
