An encounter is going on in city outskirts in Hadoora village since wee hours on Tuesday, police sources said. The belt on the fringes of Srinagar city is part of Ganderbal district.
Police said the police and various other counter insurgent forces moved into the village and took besieged it. They were apparently responding to certain reports about militants hiding in the belt. Contact between militants and cops were established within minutes that reportedly started the encounter.
The encounter was going on when the last reports came in. A senior police officer said they will be able to reveal details once the operation by the SOG is over. He offered no details about the number of militants trapped in the belt.
