A militant was killed in an encounter with government forces in Sopore area of Baramulla district in North Kashmir on Tuesday. The militant was killed in a joint operation launched by police and army in Saidpora village of Sopore town, 55 kms from Srinagar, a police spokesman said.
Police said that four more militants are suspected to be involved in the encounter. The gun battle started at 4 am and was still on when the last reports were received.
