SRINAGAR
An encounter broke out between suspected militants and forces in Kulgam district of south Kashmir Sunday.
“On a specific information regarding the presence of armed militants in village Nowpora Frisal, Police, 1 RR , CRPF 90th Bn and 18th Bn has launched a cordon and search operation,” a police spokesman said.
Sources said that the encounter started while the search operation was on.
They said that militants opened fire on the forces, triggering an encounter.
