Predawn gunfight rages between militants and government forces in Nadigam area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday.

Reports said  that a joint team of army’s 34RR, 23 PARA and SOG Shopian cordoned off Nadigam after having credible input about presence of some militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces intensified searches towards suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon government forces triggering an encounter.

A senior Police official confirmed that some exchange of firing has taken place between militants and government forces in Nadigam as the searches were going on.

As per sources two to three militants are believed to be trapped.(GNS)
