SRINAGAR: The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu & Kashmir State Centre, Srinagar in collaboration with J&K Power Development Department organized one day workshop on Electrical Smart Metering & Distribution Construction Practices in Auditorium of IEI JKSC at Church Lane, Sonwarbagh, Srinagar.
The workshop was attended by Corporate Members of IEI, Engineers, Engineering Students, Research Scholars & Experts. Er Bashir Ahmad Dar, Secretary Technical, JKPDD was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Dr Rauf Ahmad Khan, Chairman, IEI J&K State Centre, Srinagar welcomed the guests present and Er. Firdous Ahad Bhat, MIE, Honorary Secretary, IEI J&K State Centre, Srinagar coordinated the event.
Various former Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers and other dignitaries also attended the workshop. Threadbare discussions were held on the topic. The main resource persons were Er Wasim Ul Hassan, AE/Technical Officer, STD Pulwama, Er. Ajaz Rasool Kirmani, AEE IT (JKPDD) & Er. Shurjeel Gani Lala, CEO IT (JKPDD). Er Aaquib Sultana Waheed Deva (FIE), Executive Engineers, JKPTCL was the Convener of the workshop.
Er Wasim ul Hassan briefed about Concepts, Categorization & Accuracy of Energy Meters. Referring to the energy losses in JKPDD, he emphasised that for improvement and better services, accurate and smart metering mechanism is important.
Er Ajaz Rasool Kirmani explained the SCADA Systems and Er Shurjeel Gani Lala explained the smart metering implementation in JKPDD in detail.
Er Bashir Ahmad Dar, Secretary Technical (JKPDD) gave a detailed explanation about the process, technicalities & mode of execution of smart metering along with thorough introduction of the items & allied accessories used in the process.
Er Firdous Ahad Bhat, MIE, Honorary Secretary, IEI J&K State Centre, Srinagar assured that such important workshops will be held frequently on various subjects for benefit of engineering community and better public deliverance.
